A regenerative treatment is only part of the result. What you do before, during, and after it matters just as much. Every PeakMD program combines a precise, surgeon-performed procedure when it's indicated, a coached recovery program, and support for the biology that drives healing. Dr. Matthewson recommends the right program and tier at your consultation.
The injection is about 20% of a PeakMD program. The other 80% is the loading, coaching, recovery, and follow-up that determine how well you respond. Each program is built from the same three parts, scaled to your condition.
An orthobiologic procedure performed by an orthopedic surgeon, image-guided when indicated. Options include PRP, bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), microfat, and protein concentrate.
Recovery led by your athletic therapist: a progressive loading program, scheduled check-ins, and validated outcome scores at each milestone.
Support for the factors that affect healing, including nutrition, sleep, recovery capacity, and body composition. Apex adds comprehensive biomarker testing and 3D body composition scanning.
8–12 weeks
For: Persistent tendon pain, or joint and soft-tissue pain that flares every time you return to activity. Typical patient: Active adult, 35–70, who wants a structured, non-surgical starting point.
12–24 weeks
For: Knee arthritis at any stage, including "bone-on-bone" diagnoses, and hip arthritis, when you want to protect the joint and understand your options before surgery. Typical patient: Active adult who has been told a replacement is coming, or wants to delay that conversation.
6 months
For: Active adults who want to keep training hard for decades, not just treat a single injury. Typical patient: Masters athlete, executive, or high performer, 40–70.

Most patients aren't sure which program is right, and they don't need to be. At your consultation, Dr. Matthewson reviews your imaging and exam, recommends a program and tier, and explains why. You'll get a written plan. If a program isn't the right answer, he'll tell you that too.

PeakMD's programs cover a range of joint and soft-tissue conditions. Our deepest clinical focus is in two areas where regenerative research is most developed, and where the surgical alternative carries a long recovery.
Knee arthritis is the most common reason for knee replacement. PeakMD evaluates every grade of knee arthritis, from mild to severe. For advanced arthritis with bone damage beneath the cartilage, BMAC can be delivered directly into the bone (intra-osseous injection), an approach supported by published long-term studies. Specific protocols cover inner-compartment arthritis, kneecap pain, and knees after meniscus surgery.
Chronic tendon pain in the Achilles, patellar tendon, rotator cuff, and elbow often plateaus with rest and standard rehab. PRP combined with structured, progressive loading is among the best-supported regenerative approaches for tendons, and the Tendon Recovery program is built around it.
