Tell us about your pain. Get a clear answer.

Your first step is a short intake questionnaire. Then you secure a 30-minute consultation with Dr. Graeme Matthewson, in person in Long Beach or by secure telehealth. He reviews your history, exam, and imaging, and tells you whether you're a candidate and what he recommends. A written plan arrives by email. Your $350 consultation fee is credited toward your program if you enroll.

HOW IT WORKS

Four steps from intake to your written plan.

Each step takes only a few minutes, except the consultation itself. You'll know exactly what happens next at every point.

Complete the intake questionnaire.

Seven short questions about your pain, what you've tried, and what you want to get back to. It takes about two minutes.

Secure your consultation.

Pay the $350 consultation fee through our secure checkout. It's credited toward your program if you enroll.

Choose your time.

Pick a time that suits you right after payment. You'll get a confirmation and calendar invite within a minute.

Meet Dr. Matthewson.

A 30-minute consultation, in person or by telehealth. You'll receive a written plan by email.

After you book:

  • Detailed intake form (about 10 minutes): Your medical history, prior treatment, and a secure link to upload imaging. HIPAA-compliant, with files encrypted at rest.
  • Visit confirmation: Our team checks that your imaging is readable, sends preparation instructions, and confirms your visit 24 hours ahead.

STEP 1: INTAKE QUESTIONNAIRE

Seven questions. About two minutes.

Your answers help us make sure a consultation is the right next step for you. The questionnaire doesn't diagnose anything or decide candidacy. Dr. Matthewson does that at your visit.

If you have sudden severe pain, can't bear weight, have a hot, swollen joint with fever, or think you've ruptured a tendon, don't wait for a consultation. Seek urgent care or call 911.

YOUR CONSULTATION

What's included in your 30 minutes.

The consultation is a focused evaluation with an orthopedic surgeon. It isn't a sales visit, and it isn't a commitment to a procedure. You'll leave knowing what's likely driving your pain, whether you're a candidate, and what Dr. Matthewson recommends, whether that's regenerative, surgical, conservative, or none of these.

Included:

  • Review of your intake and history
  • Physical exam, in person, or a guided assessment by telehealth
  • Review of your existing imaging (X-ray, MRI, or ultrasound)
  • A candidacy decision for each treatment option
  • A discussion of alternatives, including surgery and conservative care
  • Program pricing, if a program is recommended
  • A written plan, emailed after your visit

Fee: $350, credited in full toward your program, including BMAC programs, if you proceed. It isn't credited toward a single PRP injection.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

What to bring to your consultation.

The more Dr. Matthewson can see, the more specific your plan will be. If you're missing something, book anyway. We'll tell you what's needed.

Checklist:

  • Imaging: X-rays, MRI, or ultrasound from the past 24 months, as digital files or reports. You'll get a secure upload link after booking.
  • Surgical history: Any prior procedures on the area, with dates and operative notes if you have them.
  • Medications: All current medications, including anti-inflammatories, blood thinners, and supplements.
  • Prior treatment: Injections, physical therapy, and other care you've tried, with approximate dates.
  • Your goals: What you want to be able to do, and what you can't do now. Athletes: bring your training log and event calendar.

OUT OF TOWN?

Start with a telehealth consultation.

If you live outside Southern California or travel is difficult, you can start with a telehealth consultation. It's the same 30 minutes and the same written plan. If you're a candidate, we coordinate a single in-person day for your procedure.

Most out-of-town patients stay two nights. A PRP visit takes about 45 minutes. BMAC or microfat takes about 2–3 hours. Most patients fly home the next morning.

Included:

  • The same 30-minute format as in person
  • A secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform
  • A secure link to send your imaging files before the visit
  • A written plan
  • Your consultation fee credited toward your program
  • Coordination of your in-person procedure day

BOOKING QUESTIONS

Questions about your consultation.

Practical answers about booking, fees, and what happens on the day.

Is the consultation fee refundable?

The $350 fee covers Dr. Matthewson's time and clinical assessment. It isn't refundable if you decide not to proceed, but it's credited in full toward your program if you do.

Will I be treated at my first visit?

Usually not. The consultation is an evaluation. A single PRP injection can sometimes be done the same day. Program treatment, including BMAC, is scheduled once your plan is in place, usually after a short preparation phase.

Do I need imaging before I book?

No. Imaging helps, so bring any X-ray, MRI, or ultrasound you have. If more imaging is needed, Dr. Matthewson will tell you at your visit.

Can I do the consultation by video?

Yes. Telehealth consultations follow the same 30-minute format and include the same written plan. You'll need to send your imaging files ahead of time through our secure upload link. If you're a candidate, we coordinate an in-person day for your procedure.

What if I'm not a candidate?

Dr. Matthewson will tell you at your consultation, explain why, and recommend a better path. That could be surgery, continued conservative care, or a different approach. Your written plan still documents his recommendation.

Does insurance cover the consultation?

No. PeakMD consultations and programs are self-pay. HSA and FSA funds may apply, and we provide a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
